Tree Sapling Donation to Rotary Club Dehradun for Social Forestry Plantation
Department of Forestry, Dolphin (PG) institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Dehradunprovided nursery grown tree Saplings to the Rotary Club, Dehradunon 15th July 2023. Total 50 plants of Leucaena leucocephala were provided to the organization for Social Forestry plantation. The plantation will be done by club to remark Van Mahotsava, an annual tree-planting festival celebrated in the month of July.
Social Forestry is very important branch of Forestry as it is directly connected with the society and without societal participation social forestry cannot be a successful activity. The plants are raised by the people in social areas/ community areas and the benefits are also equally shared among the members. So, we feel it is our responsibility to provide information regarding importance & care of given tree species so that trees can be well grown and well utilized.
The tree saplings were raised by B.Sc. Forestry batches 2018-22 and 2020-24 in the departmental nursery by various means. This activity was organised by Department of Forestry in association with Dolphin’s Student Welfare Council. Mr Tarun Bhatia from Rotary Club collected the plants. Mr. Vipul Garg (Dean DSWC), Dr Sandhya Goswami, Dr. Vikas Pal Singh Rawat, Mr Firoz Khan& Mr. Dheeraj of Dept of Forestry participated in the event.
