Duration of the Course: 4 years/Candidates should complete the Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree course within a period of ten years from the date of joining in the course
Eligibility for Admission:
- He/she has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination by recognized Indian board or a duly constituted Board with pass marks and (50%)in aggregate of physics, chemistry and biology(botany & zoology),
- Candidates who have studied abroad and have passed the equivalent qualification as determined by the Association of Indian Universities will form the guideline to determine the eligibility and must have passed in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English up to 12th Standard level.
- Candidates who have passed the Senior Secondary school Examination of National Open School with a minimum of 50% marks.
- Candidate can also acquire admission through qualifying NEET entrance. Candidates who secure the minimum 50 % marks at National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) shall be eligible for admission to BPT course.
- The candidate must be medically fit and must submit a certificate of medical fitness.
- For pursuing BPT a candidate with locomotor disability should have disability less than 50% and for
visual and speech and hearing disability a candidate should have disability percentage less than 40 %. - The following with locomotor disability shall not be eligible for BPT program – involvement of both
upper limb, involvement of dominant upper limb more than 50 % involvement of spine, more than 50 %
involvement of lower
- For pursuing BPT a candidate with locomotor disability should have disability less than 50% and for
Lateral Entry:
- Students seeking lateral entry into the BPT program must have successfully completed at least one year of study in a recognized physiotherapy college or institution.
- Transfer of credits will be subject to the evaluation and approval of the academic credentials by the admissions committee
- Candidates must provide evidence of satisfactory academic performance and fulfilment of prerequisite course requirements as per the curriculum of the transferring institution.
- Admission through lateral entry is contingent upon the availability of vacant seats and adherence to the
institution’s policies regarding credit transfer and academic equivalency. - Proof of age, nationality, and medical fitness may be required as per institutional guidelines.
- Reservation policies, if applicable, will be implemented in accordance with government regulations and
institutional norms.

not only educates students but also serves as a platform to inform parents of prospective students about the
significance and scope of physiotherapy.Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. Physiotherapy is concerned with identifying and maximising quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention and rehabilitation. It can also help to reduce the risk of injury or illness in the future.It uses physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking into account variations in health status. Physiotherapy focuses on optimizing physical function and improving well-being. It incorporates many therapeutic techniques, including exercises, manual therapy, and patient education.
Future prospects/ Job availability/ Scope:
After completion of BPT, a physiotherapy student can pursue higher study and specialize in the discipline of
physiotherapy; they can join MPT with specialty in physiotherapy, encompassing cardiopulmonary, sports,
usculoskeletal, neurology, orthopedic, geriatric, health promotion, and disability rehabilitation. BPT graduates are also eligible for postgraduate degrees in hospital administration, business management, public health management, and various other fields. A physiotherapist working in a hospital should expect to get paid at least Rs. 5-6 lakhs per year. Remuneration rises with experience, depending on work production and the sort of company in which they work.BPT graduates can pursue postgraduate studies and enter academia or research. This avenue allows them to contribute to the field’s knowledge and train future generations of physiotherapists.
- Hospitals:
- Work as physiotherapists in hospitals and medical centers, providing rehabilitation services to patients
recovering from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses. - Utilize communication skills to interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams,

Programme Objectives:

Internship:
- General: internship is phase of training where in graduate is expected to conduct actual practice of
physiotherapy and acquired skills under supervision so that he/ she may become capable of functioning
independently. - Specific objectives- at the end of internship training the graduate shall be able to-
- Perform all diagnostic techniques
- Use discretely the essential lab services
- Manage all type of clinical diagnostic methods
- Demonstrate skills in handling the modern equipment in physiotherapy.
- Develop leadership qualities to function effectively as a leader of lab environment
- Render services to the lab set up and communicate effectively with the doctors and the hospital management.
Final year students may start rotator internship immediately after passing in the university exam. All medical colleges/ district hospitals shall be presumed to be recognized to be training centres for the purpose of internship. The internship will be considered to be completed only on successful presentation of the project in front of the board, appointed for this purpose. In case3 the project is found unsatisfactory the internship period can be extended maximum upto two month, left to the discretion of the H.O.D. In such case the extended duration of internship has to be completed in the college O.P.D. only.
