National Doctors’ Day
Doctors are the soldiers of the country, those who don’t fight at borders but dedicatedly work to save lives and improve life expectancy while putting their lives at risk. Their contribution towards human health is beyond expectations. National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on 01 July every year in India for the past 32 years (since 1991), honouring the legendary and renowned doctor Bidhan Chandra Roy, a politician, a freedom fighter, and an advocate for education. Department of Physiotherapy, Dolphin PG Institute celebrated Doctors’ Day by organising a Special lecture on, ‘Understanding chronic low back pain’ and holding a free Physiotherapy Awareness Camp at Sanatan Dharam Mandir OPD, Premnagar, Dehradun.
The Free Physiotherapy Camp was conducted from 9 AM to 1 PM. Patients with different musculoskeletal disorders were treated by Dr Naseema Ansari along with 04 students of Department of Physiotherapy. 27 patients were benefited by the camp. Patients were given free consultation and treatment in the camp and were taught various exercises for their health benefits.
The Speaker of the Webinar was Dr Sohrab Sharma, Senior Physiotherapist, Circle Health Group, England. Dr Sharma explained that Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is defined as pain that continues for 12 weeks or longer, even after an initial injury or underlying cause of acute low back pain has been treated. Dr Sharma added that all the guidelines currently available stress the importance of a multimodal and multidisciplinary approach in order to determine a strategy to solve CLBP, not simply alleviate symptomatic pain. The webinar was highly informative and the students got an opportunity to enhance their knowledge on the subject by the information shared by Dr Sharma. 79 students attended the webinar. HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, Dr Deptee Warikoo welcomed the Speaker online and faculty of the department, Dr Richa Agarwal, Dr Keery Mathur and Dr Ashish Dev were present during the webinar.
